During the start of my major project, when shops were still open, I visited a small company located in the centre of Chester. Just footprint are an eco friendly company who strive to eliminate waste from food packaging. They sell grocery products but without plastic packaging. Just footprint sell sustainable products such as:
-Bee wax food paper
-Bamboo cups and toothbrushes
-Reusable glass coffee cups
-Circular & Co products

I explored their store in hopes to find anything that could inspire my major project and to see who actually shops at these stores to ensure my products would be successful. I learnt that all age groups tend to shop at just footprint from boomers to Gen Z.
Through speaking with the owner and one of her colleagues, I found that the store was opened a few years back when the owner took a trip to Spain and witnessed their markets and the need for no packaging. With the idea fresh in her mind the owner strived to translate what she saw into our everyday life back in the UK. Though visiting just footprint I have been inspired to strive towards making a zero waste system that can be commercialised for the benefit of our earth and the people of the UK.
Overall my experience through seeing this shop has transformed my idea from being a concept into being real and through visiting just footprint, I see how I can make this a reality. If a woman can explore Spain and come back with treasure such as this then anyone can get involved, it only takes one person to show the rest of us how successful eco friendly stores can actual be. I hope that my major project can be just as successful in being sustainable and through being inspired by just footprint I am more eager and ready to face the challenges ahead.
